I'm running scared...

You may or may not know that I was a Journalism major in College. I've been involved in writing since the 10th grade and after reading about this kid? I feel like a slacker! He's a ten-year-old kid from a local elementary school named Damon Weaver that has already had the chance to interview basketball players and politicians (including Joe Biden, vice-president-elect). Check him out in these youtube clips:

He's a little awkward at times actually asking the questions, but he rocks those voice-overs. With a little more experience, I think this kid is going to be the next big thing in news. He's already off to a great start. Especially if he gets that Obama interview he's trying for. Good luck to him! I'll let you know if he gets the big one!

Fairchild Tropical Botantic Gardens

The Gardens is holding a great art exhibit through May 31 (I know... it seems there's a lot of artsy stuff here!) centering on the work of Mark di Suvero. The artist has five different pieces on display and there will be plenty of work from others as well. And let's not forget the gardens, housing the largest palm tree collection in the country. If you want to learn more about it, read the associated press story about it.

Beautiful, isn't it? That's just a little taste of what you're in for there. So, who is gonna be heading out there? Have you already been? I wanna hear stories! Until next time... take care!

More Artsy Fun....

This Friday, the Second Annual Artist Invasion is going to be held in St. Petersburg. If you're going to be in the area and wanna learn more about it, check out the story here. The funny thing about this is, it's supposed to be related to Art Basel, which I just told you guys about. Pretty nice timing, huh? Anyway... check out the information and let me know if you attend and share some stories from the event if you like. I'd love to hear about your experience.

"Super" Building.....

Hello, everyone!! I just wrote an article on the Superbowl for one of our websites (link coming shortly) talking about how Tampa's hosting and the different projects they do. Well, they just announced something cool today. The NFL, working with Habitat for Humanity and other organizations, will be working to get enough money to build 5 new houses the same week as the game. If you can believe this one, they plan to start one of the homes the same morning as the game and finish it before the game even starts.

If you want to read more and maybe get involved, check out the story here.
