The Gardens is holding a great art exhibit through May 31 (I know... it seems there's a lot of artsy stuff here!) centering on the work of Mark di Suvero. The artist has five different pieces on display and there will be plenty of work from others as well. And let's not forget the gardens, housing the largest palm tree collection in the country. If you want to learn more about it, read the associated press story about it.
Beautiful, isn't it? That's just a little taste of what you're in for there. So, who is gonna be heading out there? Have you already been? I wanna hear stories! Until next time... take care!

More Artsy Fun....
This Friday, the Second Annual Artist Invasion is going to be held in St. Petersburg. If you're going to be in the area and wanna learn more about it, check out the story here. The funny thing about this is, it's supposed to be related to Art Basel, which I just told you guys about. Pretty nice timing, huh? Anyway... check out the information and let me know if you attend and share some stories from the event if you like. I'd love to hear about your experience.

And now... something for the kids....
I just brought you some info on a nightclub party that's great if you're 18 or over. But what about the younger people in your life? I was just reading about a couple cool things that are going on at Jungle Island.
They have animal encounters where you actually get to interact with the wildlife after learning about them from an animal trainer. How cool is that? I wish more things like that had been going on when I was a kid. Right now, they're still promoting the Lemur Encounters and the Chillin Penguin Encounters. It'll cost you $45and all kids have to be accompanied by an adult. Check with them before going, because there is an age limit on the Lemur show. Their MySpace page and contact info is located here.

Art Basel
If you live in, or are planning to be in, the Miami area this week you might wanna check out Art Basel. It's an annual event that celebrates Art and Music and also has other cool stuff going on. I haven't had the chance to go myself, but I've written announcements about it before and it sounds pretty cool. It's also being billed as a free event and, if I remember right, there are supposed to be kid-friendly things to do as well. If you want more information, check out this article or their website.
Also, check out the video below. It should give you a feel for what the event will be like. There's also this link to another one. Enjoy and see ya next time!!

Local Acts....
Hello, out there!! I thought I'd stop by the tell you about a couple cool local acts. The first one is AJ (the R&B General). His music is a bit hip-hop as well and I love the track "Solid". Let me know what you all think. He's also won contests on BET's 106 and Park.
The next back is Wonderful Johnson. They have more of a rock/alternative sound to their music. I love their song "Open the Door", which sounds like it came out of the 70's. What tracks do you like? Comment and let me know! According to their MySpace linked above, they'll be performing in town at The Blue Monkey on November 26th. Check their page out to get more info about the show.
Well, that's all for now. Take care and see you next time with more local news and video!

Event Watch
Hello, again. Hope everyone’s having a good week so far. I thought I’d stop by and share a few cool events with you. The first is a very family friendly thing: Santa’s Enchanted Forest. For those who don’t know, it’s an annual Christmas-themed carnival. This year, it’s running from November 6th until January 4th, so you still have plenty of time to check it out. They’re also open from 5PM until 12 AM. Check out this video on youtube to get an idea of what the event is like:
If you decide to go, the event’s located at 7900 SW Bird Rd in Miami. You can get more information by calling (305) 559-9689. I definitely recommend it… I used to love going to this when I was a kid and there’s plenty there to keep even older visitors happy. To me, it’s part of the Christmas tradition.
If you’re looking for something a little less kid-friendly, UVA is going to be holding a Ladies Night every week starting on November 12 and running at least until May 13th. It’s a dance-electronica kind of club. Not a fan of electronica? Don’t worry. I’ll be getting together a list soon of other clubs and what they play. UVA is located at 2626 Ponce De Leon Blvd in Coral Gables. If you want more information about the club and Ladies Night, call (305) 476-8111.
Finally… I have a little something for people who love art and history. The Historical Museum of Southern Florida is going to be holding an exhibition called “Tropical Dreams: A People’s History of South Florida”. That start tomorrow (the 12th) and runs through February 18th. The Museum’s located at 101 W Flagler Street in Miami and can be reached by phone at (305) 375-1492. So, there ya go… some fun events happening around here. There’s plenty more where that came from, too. Stay tuned and I’ll fill ya in on them. Take care and don’t forget to comment and share your stories if you go to them. Also, stop by and say hi to us on MySpace.

Do you have talent?
Florida has a place to show it. I just got a notice that the Le Pavillon club in North Miami is having open mike nights! They're opening it up to musicians, comedians, poets and art- how cool is that? You can find their myspace page and get more info here. If you go, be sure to get video of it and link us to it in the comments. Local talent has to be seen, right?
Also... I was browsing youtube today and came across this video from the Everglades Safari Park.
Wow does that take me back. It's nice watching on the video, but it's nothing compared to actually being there and seeing all the beauty up close. I remember, though, there was one downside to the airboats- they are loud! Thankfully, they were giving away earplugs for people to use. Have you been there? Comment and share your stories. I guess that's about it for now. I'll see you all soon! Take care and head on over to see us on MySpace, too!

A promise is a promise....

Family Friendly Events:
The Little Farm Pumpkin Patch has been going on since the 13th and will stay open through Halloween night. You can eat pumpkin and your kids can ride ponies. For more creative people, you'll be able to make your very own scarecrows. It's located at 22400 SW 134th Ave in Miami.
MetroZoo is once again holding MetroBoo for families to enjoy halloween. The best part? Kids 12 and under can take part in a costume contest. Visit the site for more info and to call ahead if you want to check on hours and admission prices.
Halls of Terror Haunted House is being held now at the The Super Wheels Skating Center until November 1st. They charge 13.00 to get in, but that price gives you unlimited skating as well. Call (305) 270-3986 if you want more information about it.
Finally, there's the Early Evening of Spooky Adventures at Gold Coast Railroad Museum. There's going to be storytelling, trick or treating and other cool stuff. You can get more details if you call 305-253-0063.
Clubs and Stuff that Might Be Too Much for the Kids:
Halloween Horror Nights is held at Universal Orlando and is a pretty popular event. Some horror movie characters are featured there, too. I know a person who'd want to be there just to see Jason from Friday the 13th. :)
Confession Secrets Unmasked is a club party that features free drinks until 1AM and lets women in free. They'll also have Black Chiney Willy Chin there to provide some entertainment. Call Damion at 954-673-4690 to get some more information.
Club Deep will have their Hallowen 08 party from 8PM until 2AM. They're located at 621 Washington Ave in Miami. Check the link or call 305-532-1509 to find out more.
Finally, check out Spirits Halloween Party for great costumes and a wild time. They're at 5729 Seminole Way in Hollywood (The Hard Rock). You can call 954 327-9094 to get more information about the party.
Well, that's about it. Hope this helps y'all figure out what to do on Halloween night. As for me? I'll be catching up on some scary movies at home this year and enjoying some spooky tunes. In the spirit (ha, ha) of the night, I'll leave ya with the video "Thriller" which will proably always be my favorite video at halloween no matter what. Enjoy!!! And don't forget to visit us on MySpace or check the site if you need transportation.

And over in the "what were they thinking" category...
A Fort Pierce resident was arrested and sent to jail because she refused to pay for her meal. A whole 7 dollars and change. I don't know about the rest of you out there, but I'd be pretty embarrassed to show my face in town again after that one. She didn't give any explanation for why she refused to pay. Come on- the service and food couldn't have been that bad.
On the slightly less embarrassing and odd side of things... Our very own Cape Canaveral was the site of something pretty historic. A texas guy paid millions to hitch a ride into space recently. The real historic part of it? It's the first time someone has followed a family member into space (his father was an astronaut). Check out the full story here. When you're done reading, why not hop on over to out MySpace page and say hi. We love new friends!
Still don't have plans for Halloween? Check back tomorrow to hear about some cool places to spend the evening. Later!

Event Alert!!!
There is a lot to do around here if you're visiting Florida (or
living here). The year's calendar is packed with events and one of
those is the Stone Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival. The event has
been here for almost two decades now and is held at Longboat Key,
Florida. This year, it's running from November 13th through the 16th.
If you're into good food and drink, this is going to be the place to
be. They have plenty of activities and good food planned for the
festival's run. One of the first will be Culinary Demonstrations on
the 14th and 15th. It's going to be a relaxed morning where you can
watch some of the best chefs prepare their specialties, each served
with just the right wine for it. The one downside is, they're only
letting 125 people into these demonstrations to keep up an intimate
feel. The cost to attend is $90.00.
Friday evening will be a little more expensive, but a lot more
exciting to people who love the nightlife. Chefs will use Florida
Stone Crab to make some of their favorite seafood meals. Like in the
morning, wines that are designed to go with the meals will get served
starting at 7 PM. The best part, though, is it will be held on the
beach and will feature a swimming pool and lots of live music. Going
to this one will cost you about $200.00.
Finally, there's going to be a Gala on the 15th where the chefs will
serve a 7-course meal, with fancy decorations, wine and dancing.
It'll be held at the Colony's restaurant and tickets cost $245.00.
Check the website at colonyfl.com to get more information about
tickets and events. Also, consider choosing A1 limos for your
transportation needs. Whether you want a fancy limo for two or a
party bus for a large group, they have what you need. Check their
website at http://www.a1limobus.com for more information and to get
your quote today. They also have a myspace page located at
http://www.myspace.com/ericlimoman where you can get all the latest
information about them and become their friends. One of the perks of
being their myspace buddy is you can get passes to some of the
hottest clubs out there for free as well as other little extras here
and there.
